One thing that has always amazed me with games especially smaller ID @Xbox games is their ability to surprise. Obviously this can go one of two ways, positively or negatively. More often than not it’s positively because no one really expects much from them, and once again that is put the to the test with Toto Temple Deluxe.
The game centralises around hitting 3000 points in a fast paced battle between small, colourful characters battling for an egg-laying goat! Players earn the points by not just holding the goat but also collecting coins, and fighting between friends. Toto Temple Deluxe is a local multiplayer game at heart but also has AI to fill in when friends are not around.
The games pace makes it more interesting than not, some nifty controls aid this too but Toto Temple does struggle with replay-ability there is not much here to warrant a purchase and it’s all too similar to what is already on the marketplace. But there is some good parts to Toto Temple which make it enjoyable to play.

One of the best parts about the game is the way it mixes it up, bringing in different power ups to make the game turn when you think you are in control. This is aided by the afore mentioned excellent controls which are seamless and smooth. Team play and battling against your friends is as seamless as the controls, it works well and the battles are fun to play however they are short in the tooth and the game can be well covered within an hour, maybe 2.
The environments are well drawn and power ups differ between each one, but that’s really where the surprise and uniqueness ends for me. Although the concept is hilarious once you strip it down and actually get to the nitty gritty of it all, the game is Okay at best, the real shame about this is they should have opened it up with more modes and environments to make it more interesting.
Overall Toto Temple Deluxe is an Okay game, it lacks the real surprise and intrigue that will bring you back and make you play more and more. Its one of those games that symbolises the ID @Xbox genre which seems limited to the heights certain developers can achieve.
