Project Spark Beta Review

Project Spark is Microsoft’s latest toy in which it attempts to show of the might of the Xbox One. Essentially you are a game developer making worlds, story lines or even movies within Project Spark. What you wish to put in the game can be done through it’s in depth ability to unleash various aspects that your imagination desires. It’s important at this point to bear in mind that this only at Beta stage so what I’ll talking about will only scratch the surface of what is too come. Keep an eye out for a full review on release week.

Where to start then, well let’s look into how Project Spark works.  The game makes you create the environment to begin with the way you want too out of the options available.  For example do you want a canyon or a desert, maybe a forest perhaps?  At this point right at the start you start to realise how big Project spark can be, the chance to grow and add additional items and environments is enormous.

Once making the environment you start on your journey beginning with where you begin the adventure, which character you play as.  Constantly throughout the game you create the story and then play that story out, tweaking and changing things that don’t quite work or make sense.  The beauty of Project Spark is that it’s brutally simplistic yet so deep with options and opportunities to control and make a truly wonderful experience.  To put how simple it is to use even a 5 year old can use it, seriously google it!

Some the tools that you can use include how people within the game move and interact with the environment and the player, the seer depth and ability to create something new everytime is something which really excells Project Spark to the forefront of the market.  The full game has real potential to grow as i was saying before but i can see Microsoft adding in game transactions to boost the options for the player, Project Spark is a game that will only continue to grow as the power of the Xbox One becomes more and more apparent.

From playing out the story you can access the various areas of that play through changing the movements, sounds and difficulty of the various factors within the game.  You can literally change anything the game will only be stopped by how good your imagination is, sadly mine is pretty darn bad, but if you loved Minecraft or the PlayStation equivalent Little Big Plant then you’ll love Microsofts stab at this field.

The game goes as far as you want it to; it all depends on how you wish to make a game how much imagination you have.  When you’re done making your world and story you can upload for others to play and this is another part which just shows off the dazzling amount of detail on Project Spark.  The replay ability is in Project Spark is huge every time you pick it up its possible it will be different from the last whether that be through the stories that you concoct or completing a fellow players story from the massive bank online.

With this being a beta there are flow issues it does have a lower frame rate at times but I’d expect that to be tweaked.  For a beta the graphics are pretty good which is exciting to see what the full game will bring.

The Project Spark beta is free to download off the dashboard now, worthwhile picking up some good fun to be had as well as fine tuning your developer skills!
