Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show Review

Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show is a Kinect game based on the TV series on Nickelodeon. The TV series is in turn based on the game Raving Rabbids, which itself is a spinoff game from the Rayman series. Everyone still with me? Cool. Before we get started, a Kinect sensor is as necessity for this game, so if you were weighing up a purchase, and don't own one, you can look away now. Now are you still with me? Then let's get cracking.

Rabbids Invasion is a game for children. Let me put the record straight on that now. Yea I can imagine that a party night after a tipple would make it a good laugh for adults, but for kids looking to experience their TV show on the console, this is the game. Now having no children, and having no familiarity with the show itself, some of what I say here will be based on assumption. However, if I had an interactive game I could play as a kid and compete with my brother using character that I enjoyed watching on TV, I'm fairly confident that we would both have had a great time.

You can easily go into technical details of every game, and pick holes in issues, or the amount of options, or anything else that may matter to an older gamer. I won't do that, I'm going to base this on the amount of fun that could be had with the game. And I think, that even without familiarity with the franchise, there are things here to be enjoyed. Little mini games that will get the kids thinking, moving and competing in a healthy way. And familiarity with the TV show will just increase their enjoyment.

There are 20 episodes to play through across 5 different themed locations. It's like watching an episode on the TV with minigames laid over the top. Minigames range from finding an item on screen first, colouring in, climbing. All of which will see arms flailing wildly around the living room. I'm sure watching on you'll see that the range of minigames is probably a little low, but it's something that isn't likely to effect the children's enjoyment, which is the most important bit, and drawing from that, I would recommend this game, for anyone who wants to bring a bit of fun competition to the household.
