The launch date for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is the 1st September 2015.
Originally planned to be announced via Konami's official Metal Gear Solid website at 2pm on the 4th of March. Once again an industrious NeoGAF user has found a couple of official video interviews with Hideo Kojima buried away on IGN's server which select the WORLDWIDE release date for the game. The videos have since been pulled off the servers but the screenshot above was snapped before they were taken down.
In the video interview, Hideo Kojima states once again that Metal Gear Solid 5 will be his final Metal Gear Solid game. But we have all heard him say that time and time again. But who knows maybe this time it's true. A new walkthrough video for Metal Gear Online has also been released which you can watch below.
"I always say this will be my last Metal Gear, but the games in the series that I've personally produced - Metal on MSX, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 3, 4 and Peace Walker - and now Metal Gear Solid 5 constitute a single Metal Gear saga,"
"With Metal Gear Solid 5 I'm finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid. To me, this is the last Metal Gear."
So are you convinced this will be Kojima's last hurrah with Snake or is he merely trying to deflect questions about the series future?
So now we all know the release date how excited are you or do the Metal Gear Solid games leave you cold?
Has the newly released Metal Gear Online video convinced you the series has a future online?
