You know, I`m always wary about when it comes to a re-mastered version of a game. I really am. If it`s a game that compelled fans and won them over on the Xbox 360 such as Gears of War, or the Resident Evil games, I always wonder whether re-releasing it for next-gen is a smart idea. I fear that one day one of my all-time favourite games would be ruined. So, when Capcom, revealed that they were going to release Resident Evil 6 on the Xbox One, a game that I had spent so much time indulging onto the Xbox 360 when it first came out in 2012, I wondered whether they could live up to the next gen hype, and capabilities. So, did Resident Evil 6 live up to my expectations and carry on my enjoyment for one of my favourite franchises?
Resident Evil 6 is a game developed by Capcom, and is a third-person shooter, and as you`ve probably gathered, focuses on the horror genre. It is the 7th game in the famous Resident Evil franchise, something that has become so successful in terms of other media, and fans will be well aware of the several films that have been produced. Although released for the Xbox 360 and last gen consoles back in October 2012, it recently has been re-released as a re-mastered version for the Xbox One and PS4, back at the end of March. This edition comes with all DLC included in the price, you get literally everything.
You are given four different fascinating scenarios to choose from within the game and their characters, all that link in to a grapping and compelling storyline. You will be tasked with taking control of one of the characters, Leon S Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller and Ada Wong. Each scenario/mini story is broken down into roughly 5 chapters, and you can either decide to go alone with a computer AI, or by finding a friend online to help you in some sweet co-op gameplay. Although I found that the online side was sometimes difficult to get a game into, conserve your ammo and play through the game slowly and you should find yourself being able to get through each portion of the story. You do have the option at the start of the game when you are setting up the lobby to turn on unlimited ammo, but in my opinion that takes away the fun of the game. What`s better than running out of ammo when you have a dozen zombies coming towards you wanting to devour you in every single way?

You need to make sure you take everything slowly. Look around and see what you can find, in terms of ammo and skill points. Skill points are what you will collect throughout the game, and will enable you to equip skills at the end of a chapter, and upgrade these over time. These will include being able to upgrade the amount of ammo you can carry, aswell as things that will help you survive through the game, such as increasing the amount of time it can take to die when you are down. Everyone will have their own individual way of strategizing and thinking how they can use their skills and equip them to their benefit. I personally found myself going into making health and Ammo my key priorities. Upgrading them for me were vital.
I talk earlier about conserving your ammo, and that`s something you`re going to need to do if you are going to get anywhere within this. There`s nothing worse than going through all your ammo and then having to use fisticuffs to knock out and stop zombies to death. There really isn’t anything like it. You need to learn to take a mix of both using your hands and physical body in order to destroy the zombies and to learn when to your left and right triggers and that pistol to kill them. Purely, because at times you can find yourself getting incredibly frustrated with yourself and the guns you have, at how damn un-accurate they can be.
You`ll find yourself collecting ammo throughout, trying to conserve, aswell as collecting herbs, that you can combine with other things in order to give you more health and improve your chances of not getting eaten by the zombies, or Javo (the more killer zombies as they can strategize, and heal themselves. That`s a new one for the Zombie genre. Strategizing zombies. Is there objective not to kill anything that moves in front of them? Not in this)
This offers you a ton of content within this game, as you`re given four different story campaigns that all link into one, and comes with a huge supply of other modes and extras within, as you are offered every single part of DLC that comes with the game. It`s a game that`ll keep you going for a while, and something to offer you more than other horror games that most recently, don’t offer too much in terms of longetivitiy.
Resident Evil 6. I think fans of the genre will buy this instantly, and so they should, but I do wonder, whether for any mutual fan, is this a purchase I would go out to buy? I`m not sure. It`s good value for money, but sometimes, you wonder whether they`ve got it right with a re-mastered version, or whether it`s worth leaving to the Xbox 360. I personally think it offers a good mix of content and combines a good graphic capability (nowhere near the best we`ve seen in some games for Xbox One) and is a game that fans of the RE and horror genre will indulge into.
