So after a busy few days in league 1 action it was the turn of the Rams to take a break as it’s now there rest week we caught up with Derby boss S8TY
So 4 games in last few days resulting in 2 wins a draw and a defeat and now you and the squad are off on a break what are your thoughts:
Yes it’s been a busy few days and started off with a defeat at PP to Gazgrasses Exeter City which in truth was dissapointing after leading 1-0 we found ourselves 1-3 down and although we managed to get it back to 2-3 against a much improved Gazgrass outfit it still felt dissapointing not to get anything out of the game .
The second game at st James park was a different story and to win 5-0 was exceptional especially considering how Exeter have been playing recently both in league and tournaments so that was pleasing. Then onto Sunday evening and the much talked about wooden spoon decider against Andybrills Watford
The first game Derby seemed to be cruising at 3-1 but Andy had other ideas and got back to 3-2 and although the rams had chances to go further ahead Watford scored one of the best goals surely seen this season from a volley outside of the box from a cross...quite fantastic goal
The return game at PP saw the Rams win 4-0 with a much more controlled performance not letting the Watford strikers get many shots away which was pleasing meaning 7 points from 4 games and although my target was 9 from 12 it was pleasing to score 14 goals across the 4 games against I have to say top guys in Gaz and Andy who are both playing well
So now it’s rest week with no fixture and I like this idea as the odd number gives you a break and some time to chill
Also some news regarding the squad is that Pukki Barco Nandez Kadeware the newer recruits have settled in fantastically well. Also a shock selling cult hero Bryan Angulo to Biggie which was a major wrenching decision and with Nandez is still Derby’s record signing at 15m but we wish him well he will do so well in the championship for sure
On that note regarding our squad we have one deal pending which is due to go through on Thursday which will see the final piece of the jigsaw arriving in our training camp and one that will excite the fans
It will mean an end to transfer business for us for the season then unless any massive offers are received but I will be more than happy with what we have once the new man arrives and will leave us with a healthy 20 man squad covering 4/5 different formations
This is the squad that will take us into next season as well unless something major happens and will give us a fighting chance next season to get off to a good start , the lads deserve this break and next up is Tunners after the break where we will be raring to go
I felt the sack was iminent when I wrote my last blog but now feel more confident that things are falling into place so until next time
