Fantasy Challenge Cup Stage One Review

It's nearly completed, with just two matches left to play. Tremendous action in the group stages from one and all, with a few surprises thrown in- just how we like it. It's been a tough old time, with members grasping for every point they can to advance to the next stage. And, as we all know, the next stage equals more money. Lets dive right in and begin with group one.

Perhaps the hardest group of them all, with big names and big players vying for the chance to call themselves the king of the group of death. Claiming that title is the one, the only, CookieMUFC. Impressive stuff from the Cookie Monster here, 7 wins from a possible 10 with a goal ratio of 23:8 sees him finish with 24 points. Challenging all the way, hot on his heels was the incomperable Subz87. One of our most consistent players, he racked up 6 wins, 3 draws and a solitary loss. Scoring 15 and conceding 8 shows how he ended up on 21 points. These two go into the higher tier draw. Third place goes to the ginger ninja himself, NPT x Rocheyy. He claims third by beating out Wordy on goal difference after scoring 13 but conceding 15. Roch managed 5 wins and 5 losses, so definitely room for improvement if he wants to advance in the second round. Going a different route, OrgasmWord also racked up 15 points, but had 4 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses respectively. Cruciallly, he conceded two more goals than Roch, thus earning him 4th place. In fifth is Big B 1970, who racks up 9 points. A goal ratio of 0.5 per game shows how he ended up here, after securing just 2 wins. Last is Cheesey Crease, who alongside Bri drops into the Supplementary Cup.

On to group two now, which was a one horse race. UnanimousSauce8 takes the crown, racking up 27 points out of a possible 30. 9 wins and one draw makes him a force to be reckoned with going forward, aswell as an impressive 33:10 goal ratio. Not much to say here, apart from total annihilation of the opponents. Second place, and qualifying to the elite tier is our resident thie....I mean Scouser, Harryn9000. Impressive stuff sees him achieve 5 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses whilst scoring 18 goals. 20 goals conceded shows a weakness perhaps for the next round, but only time will tell. 16 points for him. Third in group two is Emotionalworm, yes you are reading correctly. 4 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats with a goal ratio of 20:18 (trying to copy Harry much?) sees him finish with 13 points and advance to the lower tier of the next round. Plenty of goals but plenty let in aswell. Fourth goes to our avid Leeds United fan, YORKSHIREWHI7ES. 12 points gained secures him a place in the lower tier of Stage 2, having scored 19 and let in 17. 3 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses suggests there is a chance for improvement here. Completing the group, and entering the Supplementary knockout are iBuD LjuNgKull and @dearest storm respectively. Ibud just misses out on the top 4, one point behind Yorkie. Stormy on the other hand, yeah he was last.

Group 3 saw some old rivals pitted against eachother in some kind of gay cowboy shoot out. Topping the group isaaronc333, with 19 points. 6 wins, 1 draw and a loss with a goal ratio of 19:8 sees him sail through to the next round probably as expected. Perhaps not a dark horse, but one to look out for next round. Second goes to ImmortalTanz, who ran aaron all the way to the wire in this group. 5 wins and 3 draws see him finish a solitary point behind aaron, with perhaps one of Tanz's best showings to date in the CC. He scored 16 and conceded 8. Each join the elite tier respectively. Moving on to third, and we find one of AG's old faces, in TheWayneyG. Not Wayne's best outing, but he got 2 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses with 11 goals to boot. Costing him though was his defence, letting in 13 goals. Joining Wayne in the
lower tier bracket will be niwintz, who takes a respectable 5 points from such a tough group. 1 win, two draws and 5 losses with a goal ratio of 7:15 sees him progress to the next round. Last, but not least, is debutant MarkPaterson. A steady outing sees him obtain 3 draws and 5 losses, but a big 0 in the win column. He drops to the supplementary tournament.

Group 4 now, and we find som interesting specimens to say the least. Topping the table is none other than the badger loving Welshman, caws 09. 6 wins and 2 draws sees him drop 4 points in the group, with 16 goals for and 4 against. A big coup for caws considering the danger his opponents posed. Second place, with 18 points is Roobiash. Impressive stuff from Roob, with 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss with a goal ratio of 16:9. An untested threat to all those in the elite tier for sure. Next comes a site favourite on AG (make of this what you will), TheAshCohen09. A mixed bag for Ash, with 3 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses to his name in the group. Scoring 15 and conceding 10 makes him a favourite for the lower tier groups. The next two members have yet to complete their games on the table (tut tut), but they decide who
joins Ash and who drops to the supplementary knockout. Currently 4th, with a 3 point advantage, is Zlatko z. 3 draws and 3 losses with a goal ratio of 4:12 gives him the edge over his rival, who sits in last place. stevie71b will be out for blood having also yet to win a game. He's lost 6 on the bounce, scoring just 3 goals and leaking (understatement) 19. These two men will decide the final outcome of group four, with positions still to play for.

This has been your Fantasy Challenge Cup Stage One Review, I have been your host Caws 09 and remember, stay classy Team AG.
