Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek
Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek is a game that is so good and so entertaining that it will make you want to go back and play it on hard and challenge yourself again!
It is an extremely beautifully crafted game shorter style game that takes the older style of puzzle gameplay and gives it a new breath of fresh air. The puzzle game phase has died out with the advancement of technology, however Artifex Mundi have found a way to make it great again, they have used the advancements of graphics and technology to make a game full of fun and clever puzzles and a brilliant ambience to keep you on your toes. This game is a step back into the past with a blast.
You start off the game as a detective woman who has suffered a car crash in this strange and eerie town called Maple Creek. You have suffered memory loss, and you need to piece the puzzle together about what happened to the town and the town folk, picking up leads from the other detectives that have gone missing in this town, you find out that a few people have gone missing during the last few years and there are small clues and hints you come across. The story however is a lot more complicated than just picking up pieces and moving on, you will pick pieces up and question them and yourself about what goes where. There are some strange people and creatures making you question if this town still has humans in. This is all filled with adventure by trying to put the whole thing together by using small clues that you find all over the place. Making you feel like a version of Sherlock Holmes.
The majority of Enigmatis is finding hidden objects to solve the puzzle and solving the mystery of who did killed who, however it isn’t monotonous at all, and the puzzles are so intriguing and challenging. You store all your collected information in a journal that will help. The key to this game is to think in, out and around the box. The puzzles that this game throws at you are tricky and take a good level of thinking to solve. The music provides a spooky but good ambience; it definitely fits the profile of the game. This game has lots of mini in-game games. They have a wide variety of things to do from fitting pipes to matching pieces of the puzzles to make the whole thing complete. You do get hints to help you along the way. It’s not one of those games that are soo impossible that you can’t figure out what to do after an hour and you give up, this game is more forgiving but still challenging.

All the games are part of the storyline they help get clues and connect the smaller steps. All the parts collected and information obtained is kept in a journal that is filled with sketches and incredible detail.
The challenges that involved finding the items needed are massive piles of clutter and you need to sort through it to find what you need for the next step of the story, however on easy there is no click limit thus creating a loophole which allows for click spamming to find the goods, this is one minor downside, another downsides of the game is that when you need to pick up the objects to collect all the artefacts, they can sometimes be too easy and they stand out way to easily allowing for the task to be completed in less than 3 minutes.
The writing on some of the clues is a little tricky to read because of the font and lighting, however it does add a bit towards the game giving it a unique style.
Overall this is a really fun and entertaining game, and Artifex Mundi have really brought something fresh to the table making it a style of game that will be enjoyed even with the new generation platforms! This game kept me going for hours! It’s extremely entertaining game to play by yourself or with friends. Very solid game with no bugs or other issues! Heck this game was so good that I went back and finished it a second time on hard!!
I would also like to thank Artifex Mundi for the opportunity to play this game and be able to review it. I really really enjoyed it.
