It's been an odd season to say the least. From picking the lowest overall rated squad purely for one player to paying a combined 61 Million for two completely unnecessary players. At the start most had me pegged for a top half finish minimum, some even a top 3 finish, but I think very few had me up in that top spot in what is a very competitive division two this season. So how did I manage it? What went right? What went wrong? Was it all luck or was it purely skill? (it was a lot of luck). I've pulled some numbers and got some key points to go over!
Signings were a big necessity, I immediately got in a couple wide players and a new centre half. Wing backs were my second priority and reinforcements soon followed. I knew what I wanted to build and I set out to get the right players in to help me achieve success.
My main goal was to try and finish second. I figured paullowes80 would be far too difficult to beat over the course of the season, but two draws in our gameweek gave me some renewed confidence. That confidence was immediately taken away after a few league defeats, two from late comers which is annoying (I'd already got 6 points from Marc and would 100% have gotten another 6 from the other member who left). Gardner I 8 I , anunnaki5 and Ryjones88 all took a share of the 6 points from me which in my eyes, was a vital nine points dropped. Miraculously though my guardian angel Big B 1970 managed to thwart Pauls late push for the first spot.
A new game and a new cycle benefits me more than the average player I reckon. Currently my job allows me to multi task, so ultimate team has had a bit of a hammering meaning I'm probably playing fifa more than most members. I've never been a massive pace whore either, sure the odd player here or there who can sprint quite a bit is nice, but these lower rated, high paced players don't offer much else than running. I'd rather pass through the middle and maybe do a few skills here and there. The more one dimensional managers tend to get exposed early on!
I wanted to colate a few stats for the games I'd played but unfortunately these wont accurately reflect the end season resuslts. I tried to take screenshots at the end of every game I played but some didn't take and I have ones against members that left the leagues and were replaced. We've finished with stats from 20 games in total. It's not ideal but we'll work with what we've got!
Goal Contributions -
Over the course of the season we had a total of 16 players contributing goals, weather that be finding the back of the net or an assist. The break down I've gotten is this:
The highest contributer was Lucca, the hughe beanpole providing 16 goals and 3 assists. I sold him mid season after the Leeds man Rutter appeared in a BFA. I didn't want to sell, but I wanted to see Rutter play for someone else even less.
The joint second highest with 15 contributions was both the aformentioned Rutte and Kim Dae Won. I was surprised Rutter contributed this much as I personally felt I wasn't getting along with him, but he's clearly popping up at the right time when needed. Kim Dae Won is my little gem who's recently been removed. It'll be hard to get a replacement for him as he had so many traits that made him a key player. Unlike Rutter, I'm not surprised to see him up here at all.
Shooting stats-
I wanted to do stats on passes and fouls and lots more, but in the end shooting and shots seemed the most interesting to me. So key stats are:
I took a grand total of 260 shots, averaging 13 a games.
Of the 260, only 164 were on target. An average of 8.2 a game.
I preferred to get within the box for the majority of my shots, taking a total of 175 of them from close range. An average of 8.75 a game.
I didn't shy away from shooting from range though, some of you might have already done the maths but I took 85 long shots. 4.25 on average a game.
I have a total of 67 goals in my contributions list which pips my total XG of 55.7 by an extra 11.3. I averaged about a 2.785 XG per game.
I have stats for shooting near and far side too, but I've decided to keep them to myself. I'm going to need all the help I can get in div one without letting people know where I prefer to shoot!
Overall, having conceded the fewest goals and scoring the third most, I think it's been a good overall season. I can't wait to get battered week in week out next season!
