Matchday 5 Action
Harryn9000 has got a bit of a reputation for making a strong start to seasons before fading towards the end, but have the wheels come off as early as Matchday 5 in his games against L0stbOy90 ? In the first game the sides matched each other in an end to end encounter, that finished 2-2. Harry thought his side was the stronger in that game but were let down by poor finishing, but the tables were turned in the second game as Stevenage dominated for long periods come out victorious with a scoreline of 4-3.
Red Rhinoceros went into this matchday unbeaten and that record didn’t look in doubt as he beat a below par Big B 1970 2-0 with goals from Camavinga and Ginelly. Both teams tinkered with the formation for the following game and the fortunes were reversed as Big B’s Rangers side dominated, leaving Rennes thinking they were lucky only to lose 2-0.
DiodeX has made some new signings in recent weeks and his team seem to be reaping the benefits as good finishing saw him get the better of Tunners1 2-0, in part thanks to clinical finishing despite having less possession. It was a bad night for the Liverpool boss as nothing went right for him in the second game either and the final scoreline gave a second victory, this time to a more emphatic tune of 4-1 to Diodex.
In what was billed as the match up of the week, Berty44 contained and controlled the normally free scoring MGC o NaKeDz to get a deserved 2-0 victory. The second game was a very different contest as Kaiser Chiefs couldn’t keep Embolo and Marriott quiet in this one, and they nabbed a hat-trick each. The momentum and the lead swung back and forth but by full time Naked’s Derby team were 6-4 winners of a pulsating game.
Two sides in the bottom half of the table, Emotionalworm and Wizzfox had a pair of close games, with Wizzy getting the first three points, winning 3-2 as Worm struggled to get any good moves going. The Udinese boss had sorted his team out in the reverse fixture however, as Bakaev and Abraham scored a brace each, which despite Wizzy equalising a few times, was enough for a 4-3 victory.
Another two teams lower than they’d like to be in the table are Hilly89 and andybrill89 , the latter going down to 10 men early in the first encounter, which made things easier for his opponent. Hilly took this one 4-1, thanks to some good counter attacking as the short-handed Watford left gaps at the back chasing the game. The second game was much closer, the stats will show that Andy had the greater possession and scoring chances, and the scores were level until a stroke of luck went the way of Boro. A shot came back off the post to land right in the path of Hernandez to tap in at the back post to secure a 3-2 win for Hilly, leaving Andy still looking for that elusive first point.
After seeing his promotion rivals take points off each other, Ryjones88 took advantage to go three points clear at the top and remain the only team in the division unbeaten. He was made to work hard for the first win against Gazgrass who played a pressing game to good effect. Shrewsbury had to dig deep, and went 3-2 ahead in the second half, then just hung onto that lead for the win. RyJones lads had a great first half in the other game, leading 3-0 at the break. Gaz played much better second half as the game turned into a midfield battle, before the Shrews grabbed a 4th near the end to take the maximum points.
