The F1 Season kicked off with a bang last night in Australia, with Division 1's drivers being treated to wet conditions to say the least. As you can expect there was incidents throughout, arguably one of the more important being that of SoggyCabbages having to pit within the first lap to repair early damage. He did manage to recoup some positions throughout (7 positions in fact), but qualifying last did him no favours in the long run. The winner of the Division 1 race was Shelbourne - continuing from his impressive qualifying round, he managed to climb one place to take his first win of the season. Arguably the biggest shock came from the Williams team - both of which occupied by RFC Buncey and Soggy who have been widely tipped to be up there come the end of the season, and both struggling in the season's first outing. No doubt with the quality of both drivers, we can expect to see them on the podium shortly.

Much better conditions in the other race of the night saw pre-season favourite TheMalien take the early lead and see out his first victory of the season. Division 2 saw the return of AG Favourite Harryn9000 - Harry comes with a reputation of being a wrecking ball in F1, which he has previously described as competitive racing. It didn't take him long to put noses out of joint however, being involved in a number of incidents within the first lap, ultimately resulting in his retirement from the race at the hands of deareststorm who himself had an impressive outing, finishing 5th from 10th position on the starting grid. It was heartbreak for niwintz in the Force India as he was setting quick laps and arguably heading for a podium finish before an error caused him to spin out of contention and ultimately the race. Division 2 was stacked on the starting grid with an unprecedented 20 drivers gearing up to take the first corner - a number of those (like myself) being relative novices to the game. One returning driver from last season was ImmortalTanz who had possibly the best performance of the race coming from 16th on the grid to finish 7th at the flag - a staggering 9 places gained throughout the race. Late late drama involving a crash between Ryjones88 and L0stbOy90 meant myself and payne wales both ended up slowing to avoid major incident allowing Riverman to streak past us and into a points finish for the Force India driver. It was also an impressive race for Hilly89 who qualified 1st, managing to stay in the podium places come the end in his Mercedes.

Following the race I caught up with 3 drivers to get their thoughts on how the race went, both for them and their divisions. First up was Riverman

How did you find the first race of the season?

I qualified well in 4th, but soon fell foul of Harry being in div2 and ended up without a wing, limped round the 1st lap and managed to fight my way back to the points thanks to a last lap collision in front of me

Did you finish where you wanted/expected to?

Any finish in the points for me is a bonus so I'll take it

Did anyone surprise you in the race? Both for good or bad reasons?

I was surprised how quick you were having only had the game 2 days other than that was pretty much as I expected

Based on Australia's result - where would you expect to place next week in your Division?

I would expect similar positions, late points positions or just outside them

Next up was MJG1878

How did you find the first race of the season?

surprising, i didn't expect to finish second. now looking forward to the next few races and aiming to pick up more points

Did you finish where you wanted/expected to?

I hoped to finish at least middle of the pack with a step up to div 1 so to finish second was a massive boost in confidence for me.

Did anyone surprise you in the race? Both for good or bad reasons?

Shelbourne had an excellent race dont think no one was near him since the 1st lap, everybody been throwing names about but not really heard Shelbournes name.

Based on Australia's result - where would you expect to place next week in your Division?

Being in the mercedes is going to be a big help and im expecting the better drivers to improve as the season goes on, so if i finish middle of div 1 ill be happy

Lastly was Burga boii

How did you find the first race of the season?

Complete full wet Race. I feel I'm very competitive in those conditions so fancied my chances if I stayed out of trouble.

Qualifying was in Dry and disqualified by cutting the corner and ended up started 11th

Had a very good start and ended up in 6th place but after the 3rd Lap I lost my rear and lost control which led to Aaron Retirement and shortly after misjudged the brake and took out Bonzy.

had to pit to repair my Wing and ended up with 5 second time penalty and ended up 13th.

caught up to team mate in ash pretty quickly and once I was passed him I put in some very quick laps ending up with the fastest lap got 10th place and Wellsa and Buncey has a incident which allowed to come past into 8th place

Did you finish where you wanted/expected to?

Liked to finish higher as I was very competitive in those condition but to get some points being 13th I would of took it

Did anyone surprise you in the race? Both for good or bad reasons?

didn't really take notice of other peoples race but impressed MJG start to life in Division 1 albeit in a nice car.

Based on Australia's result - where would you expect to place next week in your Division?

I think my aim is to be around the Podium to Midfield for the rest of the season. It's just about trying to remain clean and then Push.

Thanks to the Drivers who took the time to respond! To finish the Review Blog, I've complied a list of each Division's result - both final position and how it compared to their grid position. Thanks for reading!!!
