April's Horizon DLC Top Gear Pack Review

April's Forza Horizon DLC is the much anticipated Top Gear Pack reviewed by our very own Forza Addict - Wizzyfox.

Will this latest offering from 'Turn 10' whet your appetite? Read on...

2012 Aston Martin Vanquish

The Vanquish is what you would expect from Aston Martin, Smooth, Sleek, and Elegant. A Superb performer in it's class, it takes some beating! Good launch and acceleration, and very competitive top speed, it is let down slightly by lightweight traction, which makes tight cornering at speed a little tricky. But master this and you have a car that will win you many races. I found it better suited to Asphalt surfaces, although it's a good drive in the dirt too.

AG RATING: 8/10

1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG Mercedes CLK GTR

This addition to the Horizon Showroom is a cracker. Superb in every department, fast off the blocks, superb acceleration, cracking top speed, sticks to the road like glue, this car will leave your competitors in your wake. Decent on dirt tracks, the Merc comes into it's own in Point to Point and Street Race Events, her rapid speed makes her very difficult to overcome. Overall I would say this is one of the better cars in the Horizon series. She will set you back 2.5m cr though, but is well worth it.

AG RATING: 9/10

2011 Ford Transit SuperSportVan

If you have always fancied being a White Van Man, this is for you! Looks good, surprisingly agile and tough, the trannie van is fun to cruise along the highways. But, when it comes to racing it's not the greatest! Competing in 'E Class' races you can just about stay with the rest, but any upgrade to higher classes will leave you lagging behind. I would suggest you spend a little time installing a custom upgrade to get the best out of her, as she is a hoot to drive.

AG RATING: 6/10

2002 BMW M30-GTR

Another tasty offering from Top Gear. The M30-GTR looks the part, and performs as you would expect a BMW to perform. It was particularly impressive on circuit races, the good traction and acceleration had the competition struggling to keep up. The only criticism would probably be the top speed, which on paper should be pretty quick, but chasing down the field on Point to Point races wasn't easy. But overall with a little tweaking in the garage the M30-GTR will earn you plenty of credits.

AG RATING: 7/10

2011 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Zagato

The TZ3 Stradale Zagato is a beast!! Boasting a 8.4ltr V10 engine, 600bhp she really is a winner in the making. Very fast in a straight line, rapid off the mark (if you can control the wheel spin) and good acceleration out of the corners all the ingredients are there for an unbeatable drive. The only downside was the traction, time the corners/bends slightly wrong and you can lose valuable time 'snaking' until you regain control. A nice car to drive though, and a welcome addition to the garage.

AG RATING: 7/10

2012 Bowler EXR S

The Bowler is great to drive, the smooth responsive steering, combined with plenty of top speed, good acceleration and most of all great traction. Off road this beauty stands alone, the rougher terrain the better. For those of you who have the Horizon Rally add on, this is a must. This is not to say she is not competitive on Asphalt surfaces, far from it. All the cars reviewed here are pretty decent, but for me the Bowler EXR S is the best of the Top Gear pack.

AG RATING: 10/10

There are also Monthly Rivals Events linked to this pack.

So the question is, do you spend your hard earned cash on the Top Gear Pack, my answer would be a big yes. The best of the DLC yet.

Top Gear Pack Overall Rating: 8/10
