We`re here at the Suncorp stadium where Ash Cohen`s Brisbane Roar team have just beaten aaronc333 `s Doncaster Rovers 2-1 and 4-2 to start off their Fantasy League campaign to a fantastic start. Joao Carvalho was the hero of the fixtures as he scored 4 goals to give them a fantastic boost of confidence going into the season.
I think it was a fantastic result altogether, as I didnt expect to be taking much off Aaron. He`s a very skilled player, and we knew going into the games today that we were going to be the underdogs. I`m very happy with how we played, and the first game we were very lucky to take 3 points, as obviously a 90th minute winner is always harsh on the other team, but I think every manager will get that luck throughout this season, and we were lucky that it came today in the first game.
The second game I felt we were in control a lot more, and being 3-0 up showed that. Of course, when you go to 3-2 I had a bit of a nerve tingling as I wasnt sure how it`d end - History has shown with my teams that we`ve had a bit of a time throwing games, but thankfully we saw the game out and we managed to get that 4th goal to kill off the game in the final stages.
I`m very happy with my team at the moment, but of course, we look for new players. We need to bring in a new striker, and I`m in talks with some clubs at the moment for that. I dont discuss club details and I`m not going to reveal who we are in talks with, but for us, it`s a player of top quality and I`m hoping we can bring him in shortly. We will also be looking at selling some players. Of course, I`m very happy with what we have, but for some of our team they need to be getting game time, and it`s not what we can offer them here I`m afraid.
I`m looking forward to the season ahead, and I cannot have asked for a better start. For us now, it`s to the training pitch to work on the shooting and defending, and ahead of our next games, we are looking forward to it.
