So it all started with the team picks and was pleased we had a decent set of teams to choose from from SerieA
I opted for Juventus although it did upset someone who challenged my pick becauae i spelt it wrong !!! but common sense prevailed !
The first set of fixtures saw a 6-4 win against Plunkett followed by a 2-4 loss, this was then followed by a pasting by Marc who battered me 10-0 and 5-0 so 3 points from 12 , not great
i went on conceding too many goals in the first half of the season and after 5MDS or 10 games had conceded 46 goals , a whopping 4.6 goals per game on average!
Something had to change or it was obvious I was heading down to Div3
In came 2 signings who really made a difference Hermoso a CB and Ozcan a CDM both for a bargain 10m from BFA's and I saw an immediate impact
Also a new Keeper was to join in Nick Pope by replacing Mamardashvili between the sticks in a decision I thought I'd never make as the big keeper had been quite brilliant although the goals against column would not entirely agree, also Konrad Laimer joined for a bargain 5m from Jam another CDM
On TDD a massive coup with Tomori for 48m ( No you are not signing him Burga !! ) Leroy Sane for 30m joined Juventus to give my team an all round more solid look to it and this was evident as the next 5 MDS 10 games saw me concede 20 goals which for this version of FIFA is not too bad
At one stage I was bottom of the league and was not quite sure where the points would be coming from especially after being thumped 6-0 by Jobi who was surprisingly second bottom this was followed by a narrow 2-3 defeat but I would definitely say that this was the turning point in my season
I would only lose 3 more games , one against the eventual title winner Paullowes and narrow defeats to Amen Raz 3-4 and Charlinho but only 1 loss in the last 8 games was great considering where I'd been
Beating Joe and a draw on MD10 although seemed good would still mean I would have to get at least 4 points against my nearest rival Rhino
The final fixtures against my old mate Rhino would prove to be pivitol though
Going into those last 2 games i knew a win and a draw would be enough to secure my place in next sesons second tier of the AG League
My intention was alwys to win both and in the first game I went a goal down from a breakaway goal after a good attacking first 20 mins but a Sane equaliser and an early second half brilliant finish from my top scorer Muriel gave me a 2-1 lead, followed by a 15 min spell where every attack seemed to end up in a goal at 5-1 up Rhino scored a couple of really good late goals to end it at 5-3
The second game I know i only. nneded a draw but I set out to get an early goal and by HT was leading 2-0 through Muriel and Sow
I did think they may be too much for my opponent to peg back without leaving gapping holes and this was the case as I managed to see the game out against a player who in my opinion has really shown himself to be good enough for DIv2 and has had a good season
This Division and the relegation scrap was always going to be very tight and so this proved with at one stage any 1 from 6 being in the frame for the relegation play off spot
I ended up what looks like a credible 6th and I would've taken that at the start of the season
its been an enjoyable season with a crazy FIFA and sometimes very poor connection my end which has not helped but not making any excuses as it is what it is at the end of the day
Looking forward to next season 40 and big thanks to all of the other players in Division 2 for making it an enjoyable one
