We`re at the penultimate end of the latest hit from Telltale, and we`re going every step along the way with Bruce Wayne. Every decision we now make is vital, and clinical, and is going to really play out in the next and last episode. I`ve loved the series so far, and I think it`s been one of Telltales best game franchises they`ve done. But we`re near the end, and we`re in for a cracker. Lots of hard-hitting decisions are going to be made, either for the better, or the worse.
We`re in Episode 4, and what do we know so far? We know that Bruce Wayne AKA Batman, has been stepped down as head of Wayne Enterprises, and replaced by Oswald Cobblepott, unknown to some as the leader of the Children of Arkham. Batman`s out to take down Cobblepott, and restore the faith in the city of Gotham. At the end of Episode 3 we`re left with a tease as Bruce Wayne is drugged, and attacks Cobblepott. We load into Episode 4, and we`re in Arkham Asylum, where Bruce has been confined to by Harvey Dent, Gotham`s Mayor. After meeting the crazy John Doe, a crazy psychopathic individual, Wayne leaves the Asylum with Alfred, his aid, and one thing that`s apparent is his drug is still taking an effect. Wayne decides to fully eliminate the drug from his body, to stop two apparent sides occurring (Similar to what we see with two-faced Harvey Dent). After eliminating the drug from his body, Wayne decides to visit the Vale household (Home to Vicki Vale, who attacked Wayne at the end of the last episode drugging him) and finds out that Vicki murdered her adoptive parents before discovering that she was using the house to store the drug. Wayne, who at the time is in his Batman persona, receives a call from Alfred saying that the Batcomputer and technology was being compromised, and hacked into by Penguin, AKA, Oswald Cobblepott. Alfred also informs him that Harvey Dent, who is hell bent on eliminating Bruce Wayne entirely, turns up at Wayne Manor, for more than just a “friendly chat”.
Bruce Wayne then has a major decision to make. He can either go to Wayne Enterprises, stop Penguin from hacking into the batcomputer and technology, or he can go back to Wayne Manor, and stop Harvey from any damage. I decided to go down the route of stopping penguin hacking into the Bat technology, and drove to Wayne Enterprises where I`d go down into the lab, and be embrawled into most actioned part of the episode, in a fight against Penguin. Of course, I won, and I destroyed the ”black box” that was hacking into the Bat computer and technology. However, that decision that I made, has now just come with a cost. We`re cut to a cinematic where we see Wayne Manor. But something does not look quite right. It`s on fire. It`s burning down. Harvey Dent is the culprit, and we`re now going to see in the final episode, how my last decision, is going to effect the episode. We`re left with a sly smile, and teased with the final episode.
Episode 4 is perhaps one of the shorter episodes of the series, and although it isn’t one that`s going to offer you loads of action, It`s really going to focus on 3 key decisions throughout. These decisions are going to be really interesting to see how it fares in the last episode, and we`re going to truly get the answers to some long-lasting questions that we`ve had, and I`ve personally been intrigued by throughout the series. What`s going to happen to Oswald Cobblepott, How`s Harvey Dent going to meet his end as two-face if he is? Where has Vicki Vale, a supposed link with the children of Arkham gone? And even more so, what is to become of Bruce Wayne?
Whatever happens in the final episode of the series, I think this is one of the best series that Telltale have created. They seem to do it fantastically every single time, and I love playing through their games. This week we`ve just seen them reveal a Guardians of the Galaxy edition, due for release next year, and it seems they up their antic every time.
But back to Batman, and I can’t wait for the next episode. I just hope that they give it the episode, and the ending that it deserves.
A huge thank you to Telltale for providing us with a review copy.
