You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

So here it is. The end game is finally upon us. I've been waiting for this final episode as if my life depended upon it. After four episodes which have each set up the events that will finally come to fruition here I couldn't wait to start and see if the journey had been worth it.
Episode five gets off to a great start and it really kicks off at a blistering pace. Gotham is in total and utter chaos. The Children of Arkham are upping their plans to take over the famed city while Harvey Dent and Oswald Cobblepot are up to their necks planning their next moves for power.
The opening sequence just flies by at such a pace that if you blink you'd miss it. It's really well done and certainly got me psyched for what was to come next. This episode is much more action packed than the previous four but it still retains what made those previous episodes so engaging. The investigation sequences are still here and as always I found them to be engaging little sections where I could just relax a bit more and try to fit together the pieces of each puzzle represented by a crime scene. You will get to use the combat planning mode again which is great fun to set up and then execute. Getting to choose which object and method of takedown each villain would be taken out by is as satisfying as it's always been.
Quick Time Events are the general combat preference as usual but building up to that special move has never felt so brutal. The QTE combat is at its brutal best here and each punch and/or kick feels like it's landing with real force.
The choices you have made during previous episodes really do have an impact here and although I've only played through it once up to now there are multiple endings depending on the choices you have made. Those big decisions when you only had a few seconds to decide what to do really land with a thump and kudos to Telltale for achieving something that a lot of Batman games have failed to do throughout the years. As per every episode before it Episode Five is a joy to play unfortunately technical issues still plague the game with missing speech during cut scenes rearing it's ugly head again. Why this problem hasn't been stamped out by now beyond me .
Telltale clearly have their thoughts already trained on a Season Two as Season One set up what could become their next big episodic annual release. I for one cannot wait to see what they have in store next. I have loved every single episode in the Batman Series even when the plot just plodded along. Telltale have me hook and sinker invested in Season Two already and it hasn't even been announced. The voice acting gap been super throughout the entire series and the story has had plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Batman The Telltale Series started on a high and ended its journey even higher. Telltale have proved once again that they are masters at telling stories. This has been their best work to date and I cannot wait to see where they take the series next.
