We`re seeing so many games nowadays make a switch from mobile gaming to console gaming. We`ve seen many games that have started off as an i0s or Android game, and have made the jump to console gaming. Not many have them have succeeded though, and there`s quite a large number of them which have failed and were better off staying as a mobile game. But, I`ve had the chance to review a game that has also made the switch from mobile to Console, and that is one of Doodle God, which comes in an ultimate edition form. Is it a game that was going to join that trend that it should have stayed on a mobile device? Or would it be a good addition to the Xbox One?
Doodle God is a game developed and published by JoyBits Inc, and was released on the Xbox One towards the end of January. It’s a game that`s going to ask you to do something a little bit different to any other game I`ve played before, and especially from an ID developer. It`s so different, it`s unique, and I can`t recollect there being another ID game on the Xbox quite like this one. Across a range of modes that include the main game, quests, puzzles and multiplayer, you`re going to need to combine elements to create items or complete tasks depending on which game modes you`re playing. Yes, that`s right, you`re aim is to combine elements such as Fire, Water, Stone and several others to complete the task or create something that will open up other elements to combine. The list is endless and it carries on and on throughout the game. I mentioned that the game was quite unique and that I don’t think there`s any other game like this out for Xbox, and I think that`s quite rightly true.

I haven`t had to learn about elements for a long time, since the days of secondary school science, and even then it was something that I was never really any good at. If you were someone who loved Science, knew a lot about elements, then this game is going to be a right doodle for you, as you`ll be able to create and put two and two together really easily. For those who were never any good, It`s going to be a task. But, it`s quite a fun task and something that is actually quite enjoyable. Guaranteed, it`s going to take some playing around, and working out what goes with what, but it does add something different to the game, and you do have the option to use hints within the game, that`ll help you in working out what to combine to create a new element. So it`s going to be pretty difficult to get rather stuck combining. Of course, you can always do what I did for part of it, and mash your way through each one, hoping you get rather lucky in creating an element. The further into the game you go, the more elements you make, and these will lead to much more powerful elements, earning you a number of points.
The only fear with this is it`s going to become rather repetitive and dull after a while. You`re effectively going to be doing the same thing over and over again, in every mode you do. Now although the game is good in short bursts, it`s not a game that`s going to attract you for hours of straight playing. I guess in a similar way to its mobile version, you`re going to be better off playing in short bursts so it doesn’t wear off and become rather dull.
It`s a game that is a pick up and play game, and isn’t going to ask a lot of you, other than combining elements, working out what goes together to make more elements, or making elements to complete a task if you`re taking on the quest mode. It`s a game that is fun and unique, and although it`s not going to be everyone`s cup of tea, it`s a game that will appeal to a range of people. I`ve quite enjoyed my time with it so far, and in short bursts, it`s a game that`s worth a play.
A huge thank you to XCN for supplying us with a review copy of Doodle God.
