Urawa Reds manager was in tears as season 22 draws to a close after being relegated from the Premier League, missing out on the play-offs by 1 point. In an interview with The Japan Times TheMalien put the relegation down to too many signings and formation changes in the season which didn't give the new players time to gel, when asked if the team will be looking for a promotion straight back to the promised land he didn't seem too confident, saying that, with the new influx of teams he thought the Championship would be a very competitive league. A few players seemed very upset with the negativity coming from the manager and consequentially handed in transfer requests. - Dominic Solanke (expected as there has been some interest from new managers)
- Schurrle (Unexpected)
- Weigl (Shock, the best CDM in the FL, Though the manager has made it clear that he will be going nowhere and will be an integral part of next season)
- Lindelof (Surprise, a solid CB who has expresses his interest that he wants to play Premier league football)
Although it's clear that the manager wants to keep a stable team for the whole of next season, he will need to bring in 2 or 3 new players at the start, especially if any of these players leave. The positions are rumoured to be a CB, 2 CM's and a Striker, but players will have to leave to fund the spending that will be needed.
