Camel101's first console title Syndrome is a survival horror game set on board a spaceship that is drifting through space. You wake up with no memory of what happened and with most of the crew dead or insane you have to find out what the hell happened. With weapons and ammunition severely limited your best chance of survival is to run and hide. Wth Syndrome scheduled for release in June I grabbed Camel101's Bruno Cesteiro for a quick Q&A.

This War of Mine the critically acclaimed and globally lauded title by 11 Bit Studios has finally made its way to the Xbox One with exclusive content. A war survival game by name but at it's core it is an emotionally driven story told from the perspective of the civilians caught in the middle of a civil war. We were lucky enough to grab 11 Bit Studios for a quick Q&A.

TheAshCohen09: What message were you as a team of developers trying to get across when making the game? What message are you trying to tell the audience?

War can happen anytime, anywhere. And when it happens, it doesn't matter what nationality you are, what religion you believe, what matters is that you're on your own to survive. What do you do save yourself and the ones you want to protect? Also, on a side note, when we were seeing how games are growing up as a storytelling form, we figured out that games can cover all kinds of topic, they don't need to be only about fun and entertainment, they can also tackle serious topics as long as the gameplay is engaging and you know that stories you create are meant for mature gamers. That being said - games form a mature form of art, just as much as movies.

We here at AbsoluteGaming have been privileged with a chance to interview indie-developers  Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team, who are behind their latest creation, Rise and Shine. Rise and Shine is follows the story of Rise, in the world known as Gamearth, where he is thrown into a battle against Grunts, and alongside his brotherly-machine, Rise, must rise to the challenge of not only defeating the Grunts, but by also saving Gamearth.

QUByte Game Studios are paying homage to old school strategy gameplay with their upcoming release Recruits. Recruits puts players on the front lines of the battlefield to accomplish your missions through any means necessary. Fast paced and packed with explosions, Recruits offers a wide variety of features that allow you, and your friends to take command of the action and lead your men to victory. We managed to grab QUByte Studios for a quick Q & A.

Krusty: Can you give us a brief rundown of your position and history of QUByte Studios?

Marcel Bernardi: Well, it is a long story since we have started! Basically, we know each other (the studios founders) in a graduate studies in game programming and production a few years ago. After the first six months, we started to think about how would be a good idea to work with game development. Cabral, one of our colleagues, became obsessed with that and, we guess, that was the main fuel to thrust us forward. So, when we finished our studies, after a few months Cabral rented a small place and we started working with game porting for a partner in United States. Was a good time to learn and, after a while, we began to developing our own games. I have to handle Project Managing, 3D, 2D Art, Animations, Basic Game Functionalities, “bathroom wash”, “doorman” and so on LOL.

Ashen by AURORA44 is another ID@Xbox title that has been building quite a following since its announcement in 2014. An open world survival, combat and exploration videogame that dares you to form friendships or risk survival alone in the barren landscape. We managed to grab Derek Bradley, CEO of AURORA44 for a quick Q & A.

caws09: Do you believe that games such as Ashen can compete in this day and age with the big budget releases? If so, what does the game offer that others don't?

I absolutely do. Games like Ashen sit in a unique position in that we can try new things that might be too risky for AAA projects. Similar to how movies work, the bigger blockbusters will always have the most explosions and A list stars, but something more in line with Ashen wants to make sure you experience something new. This is great for us, we love pushing the limits of what is possible with games.

TheWayneyG: Have you looked at anything from other games or TV shows for the relationship story side of the game and do any games or shows relate to the story or is it something totally new?

One movie/book that influenced us a lot at the start was The Road. There is something in the simplicity and harshness of that world that really drew us in. The TV series Vikings is also something we looked to for inspiration for story and style.

Having said that so many things have fed into the look and feel of Ashen, from our own travels around New Zealand and the world, to music, art and simple, every day life.

Microsoft's ID@Xbox programme has come on in leaps and bounds since it launched last year and Ashen by Aurora44 is another example of the quality the programme is striving to achieve. An action RPG set in an open world that places you in the footsteps of an explorer trying to find himself somewhere to call home. A barren world where the only source of natural light comes from eruptions that coat the world in ash.
