Bournemouth win the Club League Cup

Rating: 5.00/5 (1 Vote)

There were celebrations on the South Coast last night after Bournemouth triumphed over Italian Giants AC Milan to win a rare piece of silverware. Despite a late fightback The Cherries held on to win 4-3. We caught up with manager Balonga Kellard who was delighted to pick up another piece of silverware.

"Fantastic. I thought the lads were great from the first whistle and we took charge from the off. We had a slight wobble near the end but for Bournemouth to win a trophy it's a truly memorable moment for the club."

You've now won the Club League Cup for the second successive season you must be proud of your efforts?

"To win a Cup is always hard because you get no second chances. Last year winning it with Wednesday was terrific and to do it again is a real achievement. Everyone in the AG world is hear to win trophies and I've been lucky enough to pick up a few of them. Hopefully we can add a few more in the coming seasons."

What are your targets for next season?

Well first of all we've got some work to do in order to make sure we stay in Club League 1. At the moment we're heading for a relegation playoff which I went through last year and to be honest it's something I'd like to avoid if possible. We've got some big matches coming up against the sides just above us and I think we could avoid the playoff if we play like we did in this final.

In regard to next year after winning the cup for two straight years the next target has to be trying to contest for the Club League 1 title. We need to be more consistent and I believe it's something we can do. It's no secret it's a piece of silverware I really want."

Any comments on the runners up and their manager sean boy walton?

"Full credit to Sean for what he's achieved in the AG universe. It looks like he'll be in Club League 1 next season and I hope to be visiting the San Siro again next season. He's a respectful guy and clearly very talented."
