Today`s the day. Today`s the start of the hottest UK gaming expo of the year. EGX 2016. Held this year at the NEC in Birmingham, we`re going to see over the next 4 days some of the hottest and most anticipated games this year, playable at EGX. Over the next 4 days, AbsoluteGaming will be covering EGX, so don’t forget to keep an eye out. We`re going to have some exclusive interviews and hands-on sessions over the next few days with games such as Brawl out, Sniper Elite 4 and Overcooked just to name a few. But, I`m on my way up to Birmingham after a 4.15 start this morning from my home town of Brighton and it`s safe to say I am buzzing.
So what do we know of EGX so far? There have already been a number of games that have been revealed as being playable at EGX. These include some of the hottest anticipated games such as Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, Horizon 3, and both Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered. We`re also going to see the UK debuts of a few games, with Dishonoured 2 being the most notable. It`s a very exciting time of year to be a gamer. It`s the time of year that gamers bank accounts are hit most hard, and it`s the time of year where we see releases of games and consoles, and at EGX, we`re going to see the first set of VR games for the PlayStation VR, and the first look of the PSPro. With the Xbox One S 500gb and 1tb bundles released today in the UK, it`ll be interesting to get a hands on look at the console that many are expecting to rival Project Scorpio.
But, at AbsoluteGaming, we`re solely interested in games, and nothing more but games. And there are some games that we are very keen and excited to have a crack at. With the FIFA 17 Early Access on Xbox One being released yesterday and with Horizon 3 released next week, it`ll be interesting to see some of the other games that are being released a bit further down the line. You have the top triple AAA titles that we expect hours of queue lines to be in place for such as COD, Titanfall and Battlefield. But you have also some of the perhaps unsung games of the line-up, and I`m very excited to get my hands on and have a go at the new Mafia 3, and being such a huge wrestling and WWE fan, WWE 2K17. I have high hopes for both of those, Mafia 3 after the successful and enjoyable Mafia 3 of the Xbox 360 days, and WWE 2K17 after the improved release of WWE 2K16, after a disappointing title before.
And there`s so many others. We`re going to be getting our hands on interviews with ID developers over the next few days, and we are very excited to be talking to all of them. We`re going to be having a session with Rebellion over the weekend, who are developing the new Sniper Elite game. After Sniper Elite 3, They are back preparing to release the next addition to the Sniper Elite series early next year. We have a Q&A coming up over the weekend with the guys behind Overcooked, the successful ID game that has been released for Xbox One last month. We`ll have complete coverage over the next few days so keep an eye out for those.
EGX is an exciting place to be for a gamer. It`s my first time going to any sort of event of this scale. And I cannot wait. Keep close to AbsoluteGaming over the next few days for daily recaps, interviews, and more. Don’t forget to follow us at @AbsoluteGaming over on twitter, and we are now also on Instagram! And as I sit on my train from London Euston to Birmingham International, It`s exciting to know the line-up we`ve got on offer the next few days is top class, and we, at AbsoluteGaming, are very, very excited.
